Being a multicultural city, Boston offers food for every taste.
One of the city’s nicknames is ‘Bean Town’ as
it is famous for its beans. However, this doesn’t mean that
it is the main or most important dish. Cuisines and atmospheres
vary from Italian to Mexican, from Irish to French, from contemporary
to traditional and unconventional. Massachusetts is renowned for
its fish, and boasts to be the second largest in the seafood business
after Alaska. Whether it’s romance and culture, breathtaking
panoramic views, exclusive seafood dishes by the tranquil harbour
or the possibility of a glimpse of a celebrity, Boston has it all.
Popular choices:
(1)Ambrosia on Huntington: This is quite a trendy, post-modern restaurant.
It is based around a French, Asian and Italian theme and offers
various daring dishes including the Japanese forbidden rice and
honey galangal sauce.
(2)Clio: This is a very ‘chic’ and contemporary restaurant
which tends to be popular with business people. Its seafood section
is certainly worth a try and includes lobster and scallops.
(3)Radius: This is a touch different than your average set up.
It is based in a concerted 1920’s bank in downtown Boston.
Its theme is mainly French with roasted halibut, cauliflower sauce
and lentils being a speciality.
(4)East Coast Grill & Raw Bar: This is a hugely popular barbecue
and seafood restaurant. Reservations must be made on certain nights
so beware.
(5)Ristorante Marsala: Located in the north end of Boston (Salem
St.), this Italian joint specialises in Sicilian style seafood.
It also serves veal, chicken, steak and pasta and is a popular casual
eatery.
This is only a select list of recommendations, and it would be
advisable to pick up a booklet from a tourist office on where to
eat that suits you. It is also recommended that you ring in advance
if you have children.
